All jewelry is designed and hand crafted by Zochil Jewelry. Some pieces have delicate wire that may bend if not stored or taken proper care of. Stones are individually hand-selected and unique. Please allow for natural variances in stones. Metals are antiqued brass, bronze, 14k gold fill and sterling silver. Suggested polishing with a Sunshine Cloth for all metals. Please note** due to the nature of brass, it WILL antique over time. If you would prefer a brighter look, opt for gold.
Gold Filled vs. Platted
Bronze & Brass
Gold fill is made from gold, in our case 14k, and filled with a center core of alloys; bronze, brass, or sterling. Unlike plating, gold fill will not rub off. Plating is a very thin surface coat of gold that is not fully bonded to the alloy below allowing it to easily rub off with wear. Gold fill is often used as pure gold is much softer to work with. Gold fill allows a piece to be somewhat tougher for in hammering as well as less expensive. Care for gold fill just as you would pure gold.
Bronze and brass are both affordable alternatives to gold. They are both alloy metals comprised of copper and tin. Both have a yellow tone akin to gold. Brass will tarnish more quickly and take on an antiqued hue. Bronze can do this over time as well. All of Niyol's bronze pieces are lacquer dipped giving them a higher sheen and shine than brass and tend to stay as they are longer. Both options are very durable and long lasting.
Caring For Your Jewelry
Due to the nature of metal, sterling silver, bronze and brass will all oxidize over time. We suggest using a sunshine cloth for all. For brass, you are welcome to use a fine grit sandpaper to buff off the oxidization and return your piece to a bright shine as well.
All of our gold fill pieces, including chains, will have long lifespan and we encourage you to lengthen this time through removing your jewelry for showering as well as sleeping.
